March 29 – Mulberry-Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush

Today’s Kona color of the day is Mulberry. Just the name Mulberry brings back so many memories of my childhood. Growing up there was an empty lot on block where I lived and there was a stand of mulberry trees that were planted in a circle. As kids we loved hiding out there. The best thing was when the mulberries began to ripen. For some reason I was always impatient and could not always wait. Let me tell you that mulberries are very sour when they are not ripe, but when they are ready, they are sweet and juicy. I came home many nights in the summer with purple, stained fingers, because I had spent the day eating mulberries.

Let us know if you have ever tried mulberries. If you are not that daring, then you can just pick up some mulberry fabric today. I promise you that it won’t stain your fingers.
