May 8 – “Lemon Tree, Very Pretty and the Lemon Flower is Sweet..”

Today’s Kona Cotton color of the day is Lemon.

“Lemon Tree, Very Pretty and the Lemon Flower is Sweet. But the fruit of the Lemon is a thing one cannot eat.” — Written by Will Holt, sung by The Kingston Trio in 1961.

So lemon is a very happy pretty color. Pretty much all the time and makes me think of summertime. The only thing I don’t like about the summertime in Texas is the heat. Hot, hot, hot.

True Story. My family moved to Texas in the hottest month of the year — August — from the western half of New York State in 1978 in a car with NO air-conditioning. I know, right? What’s up with that? But in the 70’s in the northeast it wasn’t common for there to be a need for air-conditioning to be in cars. Now it’s an absolute necessity, ESPECIALLY in Texas. And of course the house that we moved into, nobody had the presence of mind to turn ON the air-conditioning prior to our arrival. That had to be one of the most UNcomfortable moves of all time.

But a happy summer quilt will always be needed. Like this one below!
