Today’s Kona color of the day is Peach. This is a dreamy, soft color that looks good enough to eat.
Lot’s of things come to my mind when I think of the word peach. Growing up we always took a family vacation every summer to see my cousins wherever they happened to be living at the time. One year the annual road trip took us south from Illinois to Florida, but not without a stop in Georgia first. At the time my parents owned a Mazda, which was a small car to begin with. Pack it with two adults, a nine and eleven year old, luggage for a two week trip, and there wasn’t much room left. Anyway, we stopped at a roadside stand that was selling peaches and my parents thought it would be a good idea to pick up some. Now I’m not talking about a few peaches, no, they bought a flat of peaches. There had to be at least 30 peaches in this wooden container, and our car was already packed full, so the peaches ended up under my feet in the backseat. I had to straddle them for the rest of the trip. Every time my brother and I started fighting or complaining about how much further, my mom would say, “be quiet and have another peach.” To this day my brother and I still talk about that trip and the peaches.
