June 11th – Mango…. Fabulous Fruit

Today’s Kona Cotton color of the day is Mango. Mango is a medium orange, with hints of peach in it.

Mangos (the fruit) are native to India and southeast Asia. It’s a fleshy fruit and is part of the sumac family, just like the cashew tree is, which I never knew. Mangos are low in calories, but high in nutrients, like vitamin C. It’s a very sweet fruit, but is also lower in fiber than other fruits.

But…. I digress. So I also never had a mango until I was a grown adult. I know, it seems living out in the country I had a very sheltered existence. But it’s not all bad because at least I discovered it, tried it and liked it in my lifetime.

Let’s move on to the color though. I seem to be on a bit of a roll with quilts that are tints and shades of one color. So if I needed to have a WHOLE lot of peachy, orange-y color, this quilt is the way to go, for sure! It’s combined with Marmalade, Papaya, Flame, Clementine, Chili, Poppy and lipstick, just to name a few. It was designed by Elise Lea for Robert Kaufman. Once you see it, you KNOW you will want to make it!
