September 15th – Bonsai- Happy Little Trees

Today’s Kona cotton color of the day is Bonsai.

I know this is going to date me some, but I grew up in the 80’s and living in a small town did not provide much opportunity for entertainment. While we did not have a movie theatre in our town, there were two in opposite directions about 30 minutes away. These were the old time ones where the floor was so sticky with spilled soda that your feet made a certain sound when walking across it. Someone inevitably always spilled a box of jawbreakers or lemon-heads near the back and they would roll down the sloped floor- this would happen at least once a night if not more often. Both of the theatre’s only had one screen and if the movie was popular it would run for four to six weeks or longer. It is on one of those theatre’s that I saw Karate Kid I, II, and III many many times. So today color reminds me of Mr. Muyagi and his little trees.

Ah. Only root karate come from Miyagi. Just like bonsai choose own way grow because root strong you choose own way do karate same reason.

I think Mr. Muyagi would approve of this quilt.
