October 25th – A Corsage for Prom

Today’s Kona Cotton color of the day is Corsage. This is a light, bright pink with the barest hint of a red/purple undertone. It is delicately understated.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a corsage. I was supposed to get one for Senior prom, but…. it’s safe to say… that didn’t happen. Not only did I not get a corsage to go to senior prom, but also, we never actually made it to senior prom. The plans were all there. My dress, his suit….we were all ready to go. But then we did what every stupid young parent does when their infant is 2 months old; we dropped her off and then went back home to SLEEP. Isn’t that crazy?! My husband and I had already been married a year when my daughter arrived. And yes, we were married in high school as sweethearts. Yes, we were young and in love! We were married six months before I got pregnant, although there were plenty of bets going around the high school as to when I would suddenly “start showing” as soon as we were married. But my daughter was born in March of my Senior year and prom and graduation was in May. A two month old and sleep deprived parents. Yeah….we blew off prom with free babysitting services so we could go home and sleep. Yep! Those were the days! It’s kinda freaking me out for the fact that my senior year baby is now 37 and my husband and I have been married almost 39 years. Where does the time fly??!

This quilt below is aptly named for our color of the day. It’s called corsage and I’m pretty sure it has been featured on our blog once already. Its approximately 50″ x 60″ and was designed by Ariga Mahmoudlou for Robert Kaufman. Its a free pattern and you can find it here and also on our website.
