According to Wikipedia Mahogany is a straight-grained, reddish-brown timber of three tropical hard wood species of the genus Swietenia, indigenous to the Americas and part of the pantropical chinaberry family, Meliaceae. this is probably more information than you care to know about Mahogany, but it is a beautiful color.
