December 13th – Ponder on Pond

Today’s Kona cotton color of the day is Pond.

I grew up in the Illinois river valley so water was always a big part of my life growing up. While I necessarily didn’t experience many ponds, I did utilize a back water channel of the Illinois river. In the spring and summer it was the ideal place to explore. One of the neighborhood dad’s put up a tree swing and we would swing out and drop into the water seeing who could perform the best cannon ball. It was always a popular hangout. In the winter it was shallow enough that when it got cold it would freeze. For several weeks of the year we would ice skate or play hockey once the ice was thick enough.

When I hear the word pond though, I think of dark murky water. Today’s color is quite the opposite. It is a light minty green. I am going to fall back on my favorite color scheme and suggest pairing it with peach and ash for a winning combination.
