May 12 – Doeskin- Do a Deer a Female Deer

Today’s Kona color of the day is Doeskin. The name alone reminds me of the Sound of Music, which is my favorite movie. I can’t even tell you how many times I have seen it. One year for my birthday, my husband bought me a reproduction movie poster, and I have it framed and hanging above the fireplace in our living room. A few years ago we attended a Pink Martini concert and one of the guests performing a song that night was Charmian Carr who was best known for her role as Liesl, the eldest Von Trapp daughter in the film. Also performing that evening were The von Trapps, who are the grandchildren of Werner von Trapp who was portrayed as Kurt.

Now that maybe one of the songs from the movie is stuck in your head, let’s talk about Doeskin. This is a warm grey color with a taupe undertone. It can be paired with Overcast, Zinc, Ballet Slipper, Gotham Grey, and Foxglove to create a soft color palette that is light and feminine. I can also see it with blues and greens if I wanted to create something more masculine. You can’t go wrong with any color combination you choose.
