May 14th – The Best Laid Plans….

Today’s Kona Cotton color of the day is Blueprint. It’s a striking mid-deep blue that leaves us calm, wanting more and preparing for the best sewing days to come.

I personally have had a really good, but really stressful year (pandemic notwithstanding). I have always found that when I am truly stressed out, I need something that makes me feel good and helps to calm me. Quilting is that for me as I’m sure it is for other people. I think that designing quilt patterns has the same effect when I just can’t seem to get away from the administrative duties long enough to sew and let my beautiful machine just purr. So this is my go to when I can’t sew and I need something calming.

Interestingly enough, blue is the most calming of colors on the color wheel and why blue water and waves are often completely relaxing. People take luxurious baths for the same reason… it’s relaxing.

So let’s see if I can come up with a soft and sweet relaxing quilt design to showcase the color of the day – blueprint.

There? I feel so much less stressed now. Look for this pattern coming soon. And while you’re at it, get some Blueprint for yourself and have a calm, relaxing moment putting this color with some of your other favorite fabrics!
