May 20th – Botanical- Quilts in the Wild

Today’s Kona color of the day is Botanical.

Today’s color is very fitting because I have come to love nature. This wasn’t the case when I lived in Illinois, but things have changed since I moved to Oregon. One of my favorite places to hike and explore is Washington Park. Washington Park is home to many attractions including the Oregon Zoo, Portland Japanese Garden, World Forestry Center, many memorials and statues, the International Rose Test Gardens and Hoyt Arboretum.

Hoyt Arboretum encompasses 190 ridge-top acres and 12 miles of hiking trails with 2,300 species of trees and shrubs for six continents. Because of the climate here we can hike year round and experience all of the different seasons. Something is always in bloom and you can always find something green no matter what time of year it is. My favorite time to visit is spring, when the Magnolia trees are blooming. A few weeks ago we took one of my quilts into the wild and took some pictures, so I thought I would share them with you.
