July 24th- Shitake… Wait, That’s a Mushroom?

Today’s Kona Cotton color of the day is Shitake.

Shitake is a mushroom. It’s also a fungus. When a person thinks about eating something, fungus isn’t generally the first thing to come to mind. It’s native to China and Japan.

I think there are people that are mushroom people and people that are not. I am not a mushroom-loving person. Handsome IS a mushroom loving person. I don’t know if he’s had a mushroom he didn’t like. I guess I don’t MIND mushrooms in general, but I won’t necessarily gravitate to meal with mushrooms, when the choice of having a meal without them is an option. Usually my aversion has to do with cooked mushrooms rather than fresh mushrooms. Maybe I’m getting entirely too picky in my old age?

Mushrooms make me think of earthiness and being out in the woods. So let’s have some fun!
