Today’s Kona cotton color of the day is Valentine.
Call me crazy but I actually like these candy hearts that pop up in grocery stores around Valentines Day. Sweeethearts or conversation hearts are small heart-shaped candies printed with a message such as “Kiss Me”, “Be Mine”, “Love”, etc. and got their start in 1901. In 2018 Necco, the company that has been producing conversation hearts declared bankruptcy and the rights were sold to the Spangler Candy Company. Nearly 8 billion are manufactured per year and are produced year round, but the production is ramped up in September in order to meet the demand for Valentines Day.
Weather you like the candy or not, you will definitely fall for today’s color which is a bright berry pink. The Candy Stars quilt reminds of the conversation heart if the stars were actually hearts, but this would be a fun and quick quilt to complete.
