August 10th- Geranium

Today’s Kona cotton color of the day is Geranium.

Geraniums are one of my favorite flowers to plant in my flower beds. Every year I would look forward to adding them to different parts of the yard for pops of color and when I would visit the garden center it was always a tough decision because there were so many colors to choose from. I tended to pick out the ones that were shades of pink. My mother in law used a lot of red ones in her beds. I come to find out that after many years of buying them every year that you can dig them up before the first freeze and store them in a paper bag or a box and store them in in a cool, dry location. I have heard that you are supposed to store them upside down but no one is sure what the reasoning is behind this. There is lots of information out there if you are interested in trying this yourself.

Today’s color is a berry purple that pairs really well with other pinks and purples. Enchanted Tiles features the stitch and flip technique for block construction. This quilt is featured in the 2022 Kona Color Calendar. We can kit this quilt for you.
