December 6th – Wheat

Yesterday’s Kona Cotton color of the day was/is Wheat.

Wheat is another really awesome neutral that can be used as a light to medium beige-y background color.

When I was growing up, we lived in a small town about an hour outside of Rochester NY. It was a little farming community, but it wasn’t too far from the local community college. But I grew up with farmer neighbors who had fields of wheat and corn. I always loved watching them collect it all with their big harvesting machines and then making hay bales at the end of the season. Although there was one summer night my cousins and I got to play outside well after dark and well, we played hide and seek in our neighbors corn field. Yeah. And that’s where it went wrong. Apparently, in our play running back and forth, tripping, falling, and other miscellaneous shenanigans, we destroyed about a quarter of their field and crop. Oh we heard all about it from our parents with the yelling. I’m also pretty sure that our parents ended up paying for the lost crop too although I can’t confirm that – I was a kid. But let’s move on.

Here is a color combination that I think works pretty well with wheat. What do you think?

What kind of shenanigans did you get into as a kid?
