December 8th – I have a Bright Idea

Today’s Kona cotton color of the day is Bright Idea.

I really do not have a bright idea for today . Sometimes my ideas work and sometimes they just backfire on me royally. I have been quilting for about seven years now and along the way I have accumulated a stash of fabric. I will say that a lot of my stash is earmarked for a particular project, although in some cases I just it buy it because it is pretty or I really like the designer. When I moved to Texas this summer my stash went into 32 15 quart sterilite containers for the move. When my stuff finally arrived at my place I needed to put the containers somewhere. I have a black metal shelving unit that will hold 16 of the containers and the other 16 containers I store under my bed. The only problem with the under the bed storage is that it is hard to access them. They have to be slid very carefully from the bottom of the bed. For some reason the side rails are lower that my footboard, but they do fit. It just becomes a problem when I want to get something out of one of them. Over the past few months I have needed a certain piece of fabric or a particular line to make a quilt, and then I have to go searching. It is easy on the shelves because I can pretty much see in them for the contents. Not so much under the bed. This weekend after pulling them all out twice, because I could not find the fabric I was looking for, I came up with the bright idea to make a map of the containers under the bed. That meant once again hauling them out and taking an inventory so that the next time I am looking for something in particular I might be able to locate it quick fashion. We will see if my bright idea really works or not.

Today’s color is pretty much a true yellow. It is a happy color that makes me think of 1,000 yellow daisies. Any Gilmore Girls fans out there? Let us know and we can certainly kit this quilt for you.
